If this is to be a revolutionary project, we must use economic knowledge and understanding to change the world and liberate the world’s oppressed and workers. At the current moment, the global primary contradiction, the central factor preventing the building of socialism, is imperialism. Specifically, it is the USA-centered empire, bolstered by the American military, the Dollar System, Wall Street financial power, and empire’s state and corporate running dogs. The contradiction between imperialism and anti-imperialism is currently playing out most violently in the Israeli-led, Western-funded/backed genocide in Gaza, the bloodiest flare-up in the 100+ years of Western imperialism in Palestine.
As we’ve outlined before, imperialism is at core an economic project, in which the imperialist power exploits and extracts value from the land, labour, and resources of the occupied peoples. The moral and ideological project behind Israeli colonization (Zionism) is under greater international pressure than ever before, thanks to the Palestinian people and resistance first and foremost, and the international solidarity movements against imperialist crimes. However, what is less known is how the Zionist settler colonial entity is becoming just as unviable as an economic project. Settler colonialism requires a constant influx of those seeking economic opportunities at the expense of the indigenous population. Without those economic opportunities, a lack of settlers makes the expansion of the Zionist colonial project impossible.
Nothing has exposed the rotten, hollow Zionism project like the current escalation of the genocide in Gaza. Genocide never comes from a position of strength, but as a last resort, and a last resort that always fails to solve the intractable problem of settler colonialism: ongoing Indigenous existence and resistance. Resorting to such open genocidal violence means that Zionism is in retreat globally, and that imperialism is in retreat in Palestine. The full frontal assault on imperialism’s exposed weak point must continue. Whether the Palestinian resistance is openly socialist is irrelevant; they are the speartip of the world anti-imperialist movement, and thus must be supported at all costs. This project’s small contribution to the Palestinian struggle will be a shifted focus to the economic aspects of Palestinian liberation, the collapse of the Zionist settler colonial project, Western involvement in the genocide, and more, including:
The ongoing economic crisis in the ‘Israeli’ settler colonial project
Economic struggle through the Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions (BDS) movement
The economic victories of the Yemeni resistance
Economic struggles in global shipping (such as the Mask off Maersk campaign)
Primitive economic accumulation in Palestine by the British Empire and Israeli Invasion
Union and pension fund investment in companies aiding and abetting the genocide
How Western arms manufacturers are fueling genocide
Israeli billionaire involvement in other neo-colonial projects around the world (ex. Congo)
Ongoing real estate sales of stolen Palestinian land
